Birgitta established Nizhoni health center in 2001 growing her dream over the past 21 years into what is now the Nizhoni Morningstar Therapeutic Retreat.
After graduating with a German business degree and geriatric nursing degree. Gathering experience in both professions she immigrated to beautiful Colorado with her two children in 1997.
It was then that she started her journey to realize her dream of a holistic practice with a mission to provide only the best and most individualized care for her clients with a team approach.
After completing her education as a massage and Biodynamic Craniosacrai therapist, she then went on to finish her master's in Clinical mental health counseling and equine assisted mental health. (EAMH). She is now working on her PHD in Psychology in addiction and Trauma and disaster relief, with a keen interest and dissertation in Native American studies, genocide and addiction. She is certified in the White Bison's 12 step Wellbriety program, enjoys holding talking circles and following the red road as a strong Native American ally.
Birgitta has extensive training and twenty plus years of neurological, mental and geriatric disorders. Her passion and focus is to promote and facilitate healing using a body and mind approach with individualized treatment plans. She has put together a highly skilled, compassionate, experienced and highly educated team and five medicine horses. She specializes in counseling, Equine Assisted Mental Health therapy, Biodynamic Craniosacral therapy, and Equine Facilitated Craniosacral therapy.
In her free time, she enjoys empty nest family life with her son Jamie and granddaugher Riley Elizabeth, her daughter Mandy, son in-law Ethan and granddaughter Millicent Claire. Birgitta enjoys exploring her interests in Native culture, horses, and brainstorming to keep making Nizhoni a place to come Walk in Beauty.
